PATIENT VISITS

  • Please bring your valid health card to every appointment as you will be asked for this card at check-in by the receptionist.
  • Please try to arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time to allow for check-in.
  • Before you take a seat in the waiting room, check-in with the receptionist.  If we do not know that you have arrived, you may wait longer than needed to see your provider.
  • If possible, please provide us with 24 hours’ notice of cancellation if you cannot attend an appointment. This allows us to contact another patient who is in need of care.
  • If you require the completion of forms, please let the reception person know at the time of booking your appointment.  It may take additional time for the provider to complete forms.  See below for information on uninsured services.

Any form of aggressive or abusive language and behaviour will not be tolerated. We are committed to providing quality care and appreciate your understanding and patience.

PRESCRIPTION RENEWALS

  • If you are running low on your medications and do not have an appointment, please contact your pharmacy and they will send your request to the clinic. Please allow at least two weeks for your prescription renewal.
  • Providing sufficient time for your doctor to send in a renewal request ensures that there is no lapse in your medications.
  • Please bring medication bottles or blister packs at each visit to ensure accurate refills.

UNINSURED SERVICES

  • Uninsured services are those services provided to patients that are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). The Ontario Ministry covers insured medically necessary services provided by physicians, however, Ontario Health does not pay for services that are not medically necessary. These may include: writing sick notes, cosmetic procedures, charges for missed appointments, completing forms for insurance, CPP applications, disability tax credit, legal or employment forms, or your health card is not valid.
  • It is the patient’s responsibility to pay for uninsured services.

URGENT CARE

Did you know that when you call Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre (RCVTAC), your family physician gets charged?

If you require urgent care, please contact our office before contacting RCVTAC to see if there is any availability for a same-day/next-day urgent care appointment.

If you need immediate medical attention, please visit your local emergency department.

Did you Know?

Pharmacists can now prescribe treatments for various acute conditions such as urinary tract infections, tick bites, cold sores, pinkeye, hay fever, and hives. Speak to your local pharmacist for more information.

AI SCRIBE

AI Scribe is a relatively new program/technology being used by healthcare professionals to automate the patient visit notes and accurately capture medical information.  This allows the clinician to focus entirely on you, the patient, during your visit while ensuring a comprehensive and precise record of your care.

Your consent is required before a clinician will use the AI scribe the first time during your visit. Your conversation with your healthcare provider is transcribed simultaneously.  The notes that a clinician reviews and saves are included in your electronic health record; and the recording of your visit is then deleted.  Your participation is voluntary and you can decline or withdraw consent for the use of AI Scribe at any time. All MVFHT clinicians continue to adhere to our privacy and confidentiality policies when using AI Scribe technology.
